Professor Jean Muteba Rahier was awarded a 2020 Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship (CADF). For the duration of that CADF, Professor Rahier will continue contributing to the development of the new doctoral program in anthropology (created in 2017), housed in the Unité de Recherche en Ingénierie Culturelle et Anthropologie (URICA; in English "Research Unit in Cultural Engineering and Anthropology"), of the Université Cheikh Anta Diop (UCAD) in Dakar, Senegal. <....>
The "Little Haiti Confronts Gentrification" photography project has been a collaborative initiative involving faculty and students from the Department of Global & Sociocultural Studies, FIU Photography/Department of Art & Art History, and Miami-Dade College (Wolfson Campus) Photography/Department of Arts & Philosophy. The project has been funded by the FIU/MDC Humanities Edge grant program.
