Mayurakshi Chaudhuri, PhD
Ph.D. Sociocultural Anthropology
Dr. Mayurakshi Chaudhuri is Assistant Professor of Sociology and Anthropology (Department of Humanities and Social Sciences) at the Indian Institute of Technology at Jodhpur, Rajasthan, and alumna of the GSS department at FIU. Chaudhuri graduated in 2014 with Ph.D. in Sociocultural Anthropology (and Graduate Certificate in Women's and Gender Studies) from FIU, where she also taught as a lecturer for a significant period of time. Her areas of research include gender studies focusing on intersectionality dynamics, migration studies particularly transnational migration, and recently, the role of technology in crafting and inflecting intimate relations. She is the recipient of international and national fellowships such as the Trans-Atlantic Summer Institute in European Studies Fellowship, and the Government of India National Merit Scholarship. She actively volunteers with an India-based NGO serving the tortured and underprivileged in society.
Mayurakshi is currently teaching as a Lecturer in the Department of Global and Sociocultural Studies, FIU. She actively volunteers with a nonprofit organization, the Center for Care of Torture Victims, India.
