Migration, Labor, Identity, Mobility
I am a former attorney who sits on the board of South Florida Interfaith Worker Justice as a representative of the Quaker Peace Center. I previously worked with both the National Farm Worker Ministry and the American Friends Service Committee. Some of my professional accomplishments include designing a project related to pesticide education amongst agricultural workers, designing and leading workshops on immigration and workers rights, and regular community-based presentations on immigration and work-related issues. My research interests include migrant workers and issues related to civic engagement and identity with a specific focus on day laborers and the issues that lead to either engagement or non-engagement. I am also very involved with the South Florida Wage Theft Task Force in its efforts to develop a countywide ordinance to combat wage theft on a local level.
