Graduate Student | PhD Student
I was born and raised in SW Virginia where I attended both grade school and undergrad. I received a B.S. in Sociology with minors in Psychology and Women’s Studies from Radford University. My undergrad research explored experiences of queer individuals, which is the topic I plan to continue researching during my time with FIU. I entered the GSS PhD program directly out of undergrad, and have decide to concentrate in sociology and anthropology. Outside of academia, I do my best to stay up-to-date with contemporary popular culture. Considering my own consumption of Japanese popular culture, in its original and westernized forms (and since a very young age), my current research interests surround the consumption patterns of various Japanese pop culture artifacts in both the United States and Japan, specifically looking at how queer bodies are positioned within those consumption patterns.
