Marina T. Marchena is a PhD candidate in Global and Sociocultural Studies. She graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor’s in Psychology, and a Master’s in Counselor Education in 2017. Her research focuses on the mental health challenges faced by the Cuban Diaspora in South Florida. Specifically, her research focuses on exploring the ways in which the historical, political and social conditions in Cuba and the United States have impacted cuban immigrants' experience of mental illness and access and utilization of mental health services in the diaspora.
