Lee McLoughlin

Congratulations to GSS PhD student Lee McLoughlin who received the official DDRI award notice from the NSF. Lee's research project is titled "Decolonizing Conservation: Reassertion of Maya Land Rights, Competing Territorialities over Nature, and Emergent Forms of Biodiversity Governance in Belize". This award can be used for his fieldwork over the next two years.

GSS PhD student Ayşe Perihan Kırkıç recently published two articles on migrants from the Middle East and North Africa: “Revealing the Role of Intangible Factors on Migration in MENA: Religious Identity and Freedom Perceptions,” in International Migration; and “The Challenge of Evaluating the Impacts of NGOs on Syrian Refugees in Turkey,” in Refugee Survey Quarterly.

Congratulations to GSS PhD alumni student Aarti Mehta-Kroll on the launch of her website based on her community engaged research with the Little Bahamas neighborhood of Coconut Grove. It is funded by the Community Collections Grant from the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.
