Bio
Beverly Muzii is a doctoral student interested in how community-based narratives shape collective memory and identity, while also influencing perceptions of resiliency in changing sociocultural environments. Her research explores interconnections between participatory visual ethnography, urban geographies, and youth development, questioning whether critical visuality can be adopted into a broader framework that considers the influence of urban change on the spatial identities of impacted youth. Focusing on communities in Miami, Florida, she grounds theoretical inquiry within local lived experiences and realities, approaching her work from a bottom-up perspective that seeks to gain insight into the nuanced sociocultural dimensions of an evolving urban landscape.
